LONDON — CKC brought together 60 children from four primary schools across Hackney and Tower Hamlets for a cricket festival in Victoria Park, celebrating the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup.
Supported by Middlesex in the Community and held as part of Chance to Shine’s Schools Cricket Day, the festival took place 50 days before the tournament’s scheduled start. The event aimed to introduce children to cricket, encourage participation and provide an opportunity for pupils to make new friends.
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of cricket activities, learning more about the game while building excitement for this summer’s international tournament. The event also highlighted the growing opportunities for young people to engage with women’s cricket and the sport at grassroots level.
With sunshine providing the perfect setting, the festival gave children from local schools a memorable day of sport, teamwork and community — while helping build anticipation for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup.
